LUFKIN, TEXAS (News release) - Most thieves seem to be content with stealing a few items from a store, but that wasn't enough for this week's Crime of the Week suspect.
For him, it was all or nothing and he managed to take it all - the whole building that is.
About 10:30 p.m. on November 10, someone stole a fireworks stand from behind Coleman's Grocery in Zavalla. An Angelina County Sheriff's Deputy found the trailer-mounted building near the end of Marions Ferry Road; the building's roof was torn away and the fireworks, worth about $5,000, were missing. The thief hasn't been identified.
The investigating deputy and Zavalla PD obtained video of a man they believe to be the suspect. The video, posted at facebook.com/DETCS, shows the man driving a four-door Dodge truck through Coleman's parking lot and stopping to relieve himself at the store's car wash stalls. The truck has extended, trailer-towing mirrors and a light bar on its cab; it might be four-wheel-drive, but the low-light video makes it difficult to be certain.
Watch the video and, if you know who owns the truck or if can you identify the driver, submit an anonymous Crime Stoppers tip by calling (936) 639-TIPS, visiting 639TIPS.com, or using the P3 Tip app. Calls and tips directly to Crime Stoppers are anonymous and the first, most accurate tip that leads to an arrest might be eligible for a reward.
