An East Texas family is among almost a dozen Lone Star Land Stewards awarded for protecting the environment.
Trey Henderson of Angelina Hardwood will get the Lone Star Land Steward Award Wednesday in Austin. The award honors private land owners for their accomplishments in habitat management and wildlife conservation.
The Henderson family provides year-round supplemental food for deer and other wildlife through feed troughs and 25 acres in warm and cool season food plots.
Henderson said, "I really think we're doing something that just comes naturally. It was passed down to me from my father; I know my grandfather was that way. We're all about timber management, we're all about wildlife management, and the fact that those two go together is a plus for
