NACOGDOCHES, Texas (Press Release)-- Stephen F. Austin went 2-0 on the long road trip weekend to the Northeast. The Ladyjacks squeaked by in Fairfax, Va. with a 77-76 win, and had a double digit lead over the Coppin State Eagles, 72-57. In the Coppin State game, senior Taylor Ross had 18 points on the floor and three steals on the night. Senior Brentney Branch had 12 points, two of those three-pointers. Redshirt junior Stevi Parker led on the boards grabbing nine rebounds and had eight points on the night. The SFA defense continued their authority of the court by stealing the ball 15 times and forcing 29 turnovers.
The series between these two teams is a short one with one match up last year. SFA took the game 94-39 at the William R. Johnson Coliseum. Ross had a 22 points against the Pilots on 9-for-13 shot attempts. Sophomore Chanell Hayes had 15 points with a pair of threes.
Scouting LSU-Shreveport: The Pilots are coming off an 84-52 win over Louisiana College on Monday night. A whole team effort won the contest with every player contributing to the stat sheet. LSUS is now 3-6 on the season, and is led by senior forward Courtney Randle, who is averaging 15.7 points a game.
After the midweek showdown, the Ladyjacks will be back on the road for a game in Arlington against UTA. The game is set for Saturday, De. 3rd, with tipoff at 2:00 p.m. CT.
