TRINITY COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Trinity County law enforcement officers arrested 31-year-old Apple Springs man Wednesday in connection to allegations that he refused to take a 17-year-old woman back home, asked her inappropriate questions, exposed himself to her, and grabbed her shirt.
Pct. 4 Constable Reggie Olive said that Kristopher Danie Carpenter was arrested and charged with first-degree felony aggravated kidnapping and third-degree felony attempted sexual assault.
Olive said that Carpenter and the 17-year-old woman went to Lufkin on a beer run sometime in October. On their way back, Carpenter allegedly started asking the woman inappropriate questions and refused to take her home.
Later, Carpenter drove down an isolated dirt road and asked the woman more inappropriate questions and exposed himself to her, Olive said. At that point, he allegedly threatened to kill the woman and grabbed her shirt.
Olive said the 17-year-old woman managed to pull away from Carpenter, and after he finally took her home, the victim told Carpenter's wife what had happened.
"Any time you have sexual assault cases, and any time you have one like this, it's his word against hers, and you have to rely on the credibility of witnesses," Olive said.
