LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

The Texas Department of Criminal Justice and the Office of the Inspector General are asking for the public's help in finding a parole violator who served prison time for aggravated kidnapping and attempted murder with a deadly weapon.

Robert Hurst, a TDCJ spokesman, said that Joe Allums II, was released from prison after he served time for aggravated kidnapping and attempted murder with a deadly weapon. Soon after he was released, Allums violated the conditions of his release by not reporting to his parole officer.

There is currently an active warrant for Allums' arrest. Hurst said investigators believe Allums may still live or work in East Texas.

Anyone with any information on Allums' whereabouts is urged to contact the TDCJ's Office of the Inspector General at (936) 437-5148 or TDCJ-OIG Crime Stoppers at (800) 832-8477. You  may send a tip anonymously by using the Crime Stoppers online tip form.
