With Angelina College students heading into their final exams beginning next week, the AC basketball teams have a couple of tests on the court beforehand.
The Lady Roadrunners and Roadrunners will host a doubleheader on Wednesday, with AC's ladies taking on Bossier Parish College and the Roadrunners squaring off against Trinity Valley Community College at Shands Gymnasium.
In continuation of the programs' toy drive, fans are asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy in lieu of paying admission. The drive is in conjunction with the Marine Corps League's Toys for Tots campaign.
The big test for the Lady 'Runners (7-3, 2-1) will be in avoiding a letdown after Saturday's huge 82-63 win at Tyler College. Karley McHenry connected on five three pointers in notching her collegiate career high of 20 points, and Kennetha Harden added 20 of her own. La'Neique Nealey finished with 19 points and 15 rebounds to lift the Lady Roadrunners, who are ranked third in the nation in both free-throw shooting and offensive rebounding.
AC will face a tough Bossier Parish College team led by Ashlyn Jacobs, who scores at an 18 points-per-game clip. The Lady Cavs enter Wednesday with a 5-4, 2-1 record after Saturday's win at Blinn College.
The Roadrunner men on Wednesday will face a different sort of test. After falling 98-72 Saturday at Tyler – snapping the team's five-game winning streak – the 'Runners (9-3, 1-1) will have to show the ability to bounce back. It won't be easy, as they're going up against the 11-2, 2-0 Trinity Valley's Cardinals – a team that spent weeks ranked among the nation's top 10. AC's Robert Lewis led the 'Runners with 20 points against Tyler; Trent Brinkley added 15 and Gary Blackston 10 in the loss.
The Lady Roadrunners will tip off at 5:30 p.m. against Bossier Parish; the Roadrunners and Trinity Valley will play at 7:30 p.m.
