HOUSTON COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - A worker has suffered serious burn injuries after setting off an explosion at an energy plant in the Austonio area in Houston County Thursday morning.
Sheriff Darrel Bobbitt said it was his understanding someone was working on a tanker rig inside of a shop at Texas Energy and was going to do some welding when he set off some kind of explosion, strong enough to blow out a door of a shop.
The plant is located on State Highway 21 west of Crockett.
Bobbitt said the explosion happened around 8 a.m. and that the employee suffered burn injuries and was taken by helicopter to a Galveston hospital.
Officials with Texas Energy said they will release a statement later Thursday.
