LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Tonight's Best Furry Friend is Luna, a white German shepherd mix.
She's can't hear and is partially blind, but she still needs a loving family this holiday season.
She's young, playful, and ready for her new family.
Luna, Spanish for moon, is a perfect name for this white-furred pup.
"She came to use when her dad had to move out of state and was not able to take her where he was going, so he entrusted us to find a home for her," said Mike Stephens, the executive director of the Winnie Berry Animal Shelter.
She's up on her vaccines and rabies shots. Luna will only need to get fixed by her new owners.
"She's only nine months old, roughly, she's still a big puppy," Stephens said. "She's going to need some room to play."
The best home for Luna is a family with fenced in yard; however, a family with small children could be tough on her.
"She's a special-needs dog," Stephens said. "She's completely deaf, we believe, and she has a visual impairment as well."
However, despite her medical conditions, this week's Best Furry Friend, Luna, has a big heart and is ready to call your family home.
If you're interested in adopting Luna, she's at the Winnie Berry Animal Shelter off North John Redditt Drive in Lufkin.
They're open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday but closed on the Sundays. The animal shelter is closed for lunch from noon to 1 p.m. each day.
Also, happening until Saturday, Winnie Berry has a special deal on vaccine and micro-chipping. They also have rabies shots for $10 each, micro-chipping for $15, and vaccinations for $22.
They'll be giving vouchers at those discounted prices to get your pet taken care.
