LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - The Kurth Memorial Animal Shleter is looking to make Christmas a merry holiday for many of their shelter dogs.
From now until Dec.23, the shelter is waiving the adoption fees for their animals. All the shelter ask for in return is a donation that will go to future animals' medical expenses.
"The fund will help out many animals that need attention when they come in here," Director Aaron Ramsey said. "We do not turn away animals so this is a way to really help these animals get a new home in time for the holidays."
Ramsey said adoptions usually costs $60 so the donation is a good way for residents to save money.
"You may be looking at a pet for a gift," Ramsey said. "These shelter animals make good family pets. I would encourage anyone to come by here before they go to a breeder and see these animals."
The offer is good for all dogs, cats and puppies. Ramsey said the shelter has plenty of options.
"We have a wide variety of animals to choose from cats and dogs," Ramsey said. "Anything you are looking for from small to all the way up to a more mature dog and puppies. We have just a wide range of animals that we encourage people to come out and take a look."
