Strong to severe storms rumbled across much of East Texas Saturday evening and Saturday night. There were a couple of reports of tornadoes, but no major damage was reported from the storms.
A law enforcement officer first reported a tornado near Highway 21, ten miles east of Interstate 45 in Madison County near Midway. As the storm tracked into Houston and Trinity Counties, a tornado was also reported about 3 miles south-southeast of Austonio, near the Eastham Prison Unit. There have been no confirmed reports of damage in these areas.
The Live Doppler 9 Weather Team continued to track these storms as they moved across northern Polk County and southern Angelina County. While radar indicated rotation with the storm in these areas, there have been no confirmed reports of a tornado in Polk or Angelina Counties. However, there were reports of several trees down along FM 1270 in southern Angelina County near Zavalla. Power outages were also reported from Corrigan and Wakefield in northern Polk County.
