Jimmie Johnson Wins Again

Johnson Threepeats at Lowe's

CONCORD, N.C. (AP) _ Jimmie Johnson has set a NASCAR record by

winning the Coca-Cola 600 for the third straight year. He passed

Bobby Labonte (lah-BAHN'-tee) from the outside on the final turn to

capture the race by about a half-car length.

Johnson had to come from fourth place to chase down Labonte

after a restart with five laps remaining. Johnson made several

attempts to pass Labonte on the inside before catching him high.

Johnson had dominated the previous two Coca-Cola 600's. He led

for 500 of 600 miles last year.

It's the fourth Nextel Cup victory for Johnson at Lowe's Motor

Speedway.

Carl Edwards finished third, ahead of Jeremy Mayfield and Ryan

Newman.

The race was marred by 22 cautions, the most ever for a Nextel

or Winston Cup race. It was the second longest race in the event's

history.
