Men Escape House Fire Unharmed

by Ramonica R. Jones

Memorial Day got off to a scary start for some men in Nacogdoches. Their house caught on fire.

Firefighters don't know what caused the blaze, but they believe it was accidental. They say it started in the attic of a home on Durst Street. The house wasn't completely destroyed, but the damage was pretty bad.

NFD Deputy Chief Jimmy Marshall said, "There was a little bit [of fire] had started coming through the roof in the kitchen area. They got a quick knock down on it. There's gonna be some smoke damage and probably some water damage into the house. Looks like most of the fire damage is [going to] be in the attic."

The men who live in the house were able to get out before firefighters got there. No one was hurt.
