LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - After a Lufkin police officer found a 69-year-old man passed out in his pickup at a gas station on John Redditt Drive Monday afternoon, the officer woke him up and asked him how much he'd had to drink, according to a police report.
"Enough for us to be talking," Paul Garcia Saenz is quoted as saying in the Lufkin Police Department's daily activity report..
Garcia, of Lufkin, was booked into the Angelina County jail Monday on a misdemeanor public intoxication charge. Saenz posted a bail amount of $500 and was released later that day.
When the Lufkin PD officer was dispatched out to check on the situation, he found Saenz passed out in his Dodge 1500 pickup next to a gas pump at about 3:06 p.m. Monday. The LPD officer could smell alcohol when he woke the man up, the report stated.
The Lufkin PD officer asked Saenz if he had been drinking, and he allegedly replied, "You got me."
Saenz was taken into custody after he failed the field sobriety test, the report stated.
According to Angelina County jail records, this arrest marked the third time this year that Saenz has been arrested for public intoxication. The other two times were in August and November.
