LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

Officers with the Lufkin Police Department arrested one of two men in connection to allegations that they beat a man up so severely outside a local night club  on Dec. 10 that he was permanently disfigured.

Antonio Badillo, 30, of Lufkin, is still being held in the Angelina County jail on a second-degree felony aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury charge. No bail amount has been set for the charge.

Lt. David Young with the Lufkin Police Department said that the assault occurred after midnight on Dec. 10. He said that the victim was at the Rodeo Disco night club on Timberland Drive, and everyone else left, he went outside. At that point, Badillo and another man beat the victim up, causing a serious cut on the man’s forehead.

Young said the charge was upgraded to an aggravated assault because the victim will be permanently disfigured by his injury.

Badillo was picked up on an outstanding arrest warrant for the alleged crime. An arrest warrant has also been issued for the other suspect in the alleged assault. However, the Lufkin Police Department is not releasing the name of the second suspect because the investigation is still pending.

More than a few tar-covered tires are hanging on to the parking lot of a Lufkin tire shop.  On August 31, newly laid asphalt on Loop 287 started sticking to tires of those driving, leaving many of the cars un-driveable. As of Friday, the Texas Department of Transportation hadn't come out with an official cause for the incident, but that hasn't stopped over 600 people from filing claims with them.
