LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Celebrating with style can take a hit on your wallet with New Year's Eve on Saturday.
But there are several budget friendly events in Lufkin to watch the clock strike midnight.
With that concern, the Kurth Memorial Library is showing the movie Zootopia for families who want to celebrate together.
"New Year's isn't necessarily geared towards the family. New Year's is often about adults going out and doing things," said Lorraine Simmoneau, Director of Kurth Memorial Library.
The Skate Ranch will have separate events for little kids who are still learning how to skate. For the teenagers who are more experienced, another event is planned later in the afternoon on December 31.
After all the family friendly events, pour a toast of bubbly at Restoration Wine Bar in Downtown Lufkin. The bar will have two toasts. The first at 10 p.m. and another at midnight with live music throughout the night without a cover charge.
"People just don't stay up until midnight anymore. I noticed here, especially on New Year's Eve, that come 10 o'clock you know we're getting tired and kind of getting ready to wind down. Many are not wanting to drive home at midnight when everyone else on the streets is trying to drive home from the bars after drinking a lot. This way it benefits both people," said April Unsell, General Manager of Restoration Wine Bar.
