HUDSON, TX (KTRE) - Brookshire Brothers opened its newest retail location in Hudson Wednesday morning.
The Lufkin-based grocery store chain held a grand opening for its Brookshire Brothers Express location at 6564 Ted Trout Drive Wednesday. The new store will employ about 30 people, including high school and college students.
Brookshire Brothers' leadership was joined by representatives for the Angelina County Chamber of Commerce, the City of Hudson, and Hudson ISD for the ribbon-cutting ceremony. The festivities included a prize wheel, raffles, giveaways, and performances by Hudson ISD's cheerleaders, Highlights, band, and choir.
"Store Director Stephanie Matthews invites her Hudson neighbors to get to know her extraordinary store team," a press release stated. "Stephanie has been with Brookshire Brothers for 17 years, previously serving at Lufkin and Diboll locations. Matthews, a Jasper native, leads her store team by example and treats her employees like family."
John Watkins, who has served at the chain's Huntington location will serve as the store's assistant director.
"The Brookshire Brothers Express will feature fresh meat and produce, a hot deli with daily specials, Western Union, money orders, and a full-service courtesy booth," the press release stated.
Brookshire Brothers just celebrated its 95th anniversary as a company. The employee-owned company's assets include 115 retail outlets in Texas and Louisiana, and that number includes grocery stores, convenience stores, and free-standing tobacco, pharmacy, and petro locations.
