There's no longer a DARE program in Angelina County.
A funding deadline for the program passed May 31st. Last year, the county had an option to either get rid of some employees or cut Drug Abuse Resistance Education, and it was the DARE program that got the ax.
Angelina County started funding DARE more than three years ago when it ran out of federal grants for the program. County leaders say getting rid of DARE will save them $63,000 a year.
