Former Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack, Gus Johnson, signed to the Pittsburgh Steelers practice squad on Wednesday. This is the third NFL team Johnson has been signed to this year.
The Steelers made the move to add depth and replace injured running back Dreamius Smith.
Johnson started the 2016 season with the Atlanta Falcons but was most recently with the Chargers. Johnson broke into the league as a undrafted free agent in 2015 where he spent time with the Dallas Cowboys and Oakland Raiders.
While the young running back is still looking to make a name for himself in the NFL, he's already managed to do that in Nacogdoches where he finished his college career as an All-American at SFA. He also holds school records with 3,982 rushing yards and 52 career touchdowns.
