NISD student arrested after gun, bullets found in backpack

NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - Nacogdoches ISD police have arrested a 17-year-old student after a gun was found in his backpack, according to the police chief.

Jaquaylin Dawone Session, of Nacogdoches, is still being held in the Nacogdoches Jail on a third-degree felony third-degree place where weapons prohibited. His bail amount has been set at $8,000.

Chief Sandra Murray said an administrator at Malcolm Rector Technical High School told police a staff member saw a student with a gun.

Murray said the student claimed the gun did not belong to him and that he let someone borrow his backpack and they put it in there.

According to a press release, the gun was a Ruger .22-caliber in a soft gun case. Inside the case were five bullets wrapped in a white paper towel.
