POLK COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - A 24-year-old Diboll man accepted a plea bargain deal of 25 years in prison for sexual assaulting a 7-year-old boy back in June.
Charlie Edward Allsbrooks appeared in a Polk County district court earlier this month for a plea bargain hearing. As part of the deal, he pleaded guilty to a first-degree felony aggravated sexual assault of a child charge.
According to an arrest affidavit, the boy's step-father reported the case on July 21, saying his step-son told him about the assault.
A forensic interviewer spoke with the child on July 22. According to the arrest affidavit, the child gave details on how he was sexually assaulted.
Deputies interviewed Allsbrooks on July 28 and reported he confessed to some of the allegations.
Allsbrooks is a registered sex offender. According to the Texas database, he is a "moderate" risk level and was convicted in Louisiana in 2005 on a charge of oral sexual battery, the victim being a four-year-old boy.
