HOUSTON, TX (KTRE) - Former president George H.W. Bush "remains in stable condition" in the ICU at Houston Methodist Hospital, according to an update from his office.
"He was extubated this morning and is breathing well on his on with minimal supplemental oxygen," the statement said. "President Bush is comfortable and watching the inauguration coverage together with Mrs. Bush, their son Neil, and daughter-in-law Maria."
The statement said George H.W. Bush will remain in the ICU for observation.
According to the statement, Barbara Bush has continued to feel better, and she is focusing on spending time with her husband. She is expected to remain in the hospital over the weekend as a precaution.
"The 92-year-old former president is being treated for breathing difficulties stemming from pneumonia," an Associated Press story stated. "He was admitted to Houston Methodist Hospital last weekend for shortness of breath but was later moved to intensive care when physicians put in a breathing tube."
