NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - Nacogdoches ISD held a special board meeting Thursday to discuss the future direction of the superintendent vacancy.
The school board discussed approval of which method to use to fill the superintendent vacancy and the qualifications required for a job posting.
After a closed session that lasted more than an hour and half, the board made a motion to have a special meeting next Tuesday to approve qualifications for the position and how to frame the job announcement.
The school board will seek candidates both internally and externally and a tentative goal to name a finalist is scheduled for April.
"We have set a date to make the qualifications. We're going to set the time line. We have established that we are going to do it in house and at this time we have a goal to have a lone finalist named by April," said Steve Green, president of the NISD school board.
The school board did eliminate the option to conduct a search through an outside firm.
