Proposed Remedy Approved By TCEQ

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has approved a proposed remedy to get rid of a leak at the Angelina County landfill.

The plan includes building a trench to intercept landfill gas before it reaches the landfill. The TCEQ approved installation of a passive gas venting system.

The construction and positioning of the passive system will be designed to intercept and vent landfill gas escaping from the near surface edge of the cell liner and stop further migration of the gas.

Once the construction design is finalized, the remedy will be implemented within the next 30 days.
