LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Drivers on Loop 287 in the area of US 69 South are asked to be cautious Monday as crews are working on the roads.
TxDOT spokeswoman Rhonda Oaks said crews are performing mill and inlay in southbound lanes of traffic. Drivers entering the loop from US 69 or other points are required to yield.
Oaks said congestion is heavy in the area and will be throughout the day.
"Please be alert to moving equipment and oncoming traffic," Oaks said in a press release. "Obey all traffic control devices and follow orange cones. Please do not drive through barrels or cones to gain access to the loop. It is not safe and this is not the proper way to merge into traffic in a work zone."
