HOUSTON, TX (KTRE) -

A Diboll Police Department sergeant who worked security at Super Bowl 51 Sunday as a motorcycle officer got an opportunity to have his picture taken with pop superstar Lady Gaga before her half-time performance.

Lovell was working as a peace officer in Houston during Super Bowl weekend as an extra job. Because he is a motorcycle officer, he was assigned to serve as an escort for celebrities.

"Some of us were escorting people from airports and other places and some were just doing street traffic," Lovell said. "I guess I just got lucky and was given that assignment."

On Sunday, Lovell and other others escorted Gaga from the home she was staying at to Houston's NRG Stadium. Afterward, Gaga posed for a picture with each of the police officers who escorted her to the stadium.

"She was really nice to us," Lovell said. "I did not see her long. We picked her up from a home she was staying at in Houston and escorted her to the stadium."

Lovell said Gaga was in a Lamborghini, and her crew was in a Bentley.

"We just escorted them to make sure they made it safely," Lovell said. "When we got there. she said thanks and offered to take pictures with us. It was cool."

More than a few tar-covered tires are hanging on to the parking lot of a Lufkin tire shop.  On August 31, newly laid asphalt on Loop 287 started sticking to tires of those driving, leaving many of the cars un-driveable. As of Friday, the Texas Department of Transportation hadn't come out with an official cause for the incident, but that hasn't stopped over 600 people from filing claims with them.
