LUFKIN, TX (Press Release)- The Angelina College Roadrunner baseball team has started its 2017 with an 0-6 record, but head coach Jeff Livin on Monday didn’t seem too worried.
“We’ve got a lot of talent on this team,” Livin said. “But we’ve got guys trying to do a little too much instead of focusing on what they’re capable of doing. We’ve got some new guys learning on the go, but I know they’ll figure it out. We’ll be fine.”
AC lost its first four games in doubleheaders against McLennan College, one of the nation’s top-ranked teams. On Saturday, the ‘Runners fell in both games of a doubleheader at Alvin College. In the opener of that series, a 5-2 loss, Evian Benjamin drove in two runs in a three-hit effort. In the nightcap, an 11-5 Alvin win, Max Jacoby tripled in a pair of runs.
The Roadrunners will try to get into the win column with Tuesday’s home game against Blinn College. The single, nine-inning matchup is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start at Roadrunner Field on the Angelina College campus.
