JASPER COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Deputies with the Jasper County Sheriff's Office arrested a 49-year-old man earlier this week in connection to allegations that he went to a business in Evadale and assaulted a man before trying to slash and stab the victim with a machete.
Dawayne Anthony Lafauci, of Vidor, was booked into the Jasper County Jail on a second-degree felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge. His bail amount was set at $20,000.
According to the arrest affidavit East Texas News obtained Wednesday, a JCSO deputy was dispatched out to 545 Sunset Drive in Evadale on Monday in reference to an assault. He was approached by a 51-year-old man.
The alleged victim told the deputy that he was at J3 Metals in Evadale, Lafauci approached the man's vehicle and started punching him, the affidavit stated.
Then Ladauci allegedly grabbed a machete from the back of the man's pickup and tried to slash him with it several times. The affidavit stated that Lafauci also tried to use the machete to stab the victim several times.
