CROCKETT, TX (KTRE) - Officers with the Crockett Police Department arrested a 31-year-old woman early Thursday morning in connection to allegations that she got into an argument with a man and cut him with a knife from his armpit down to his hip.
Jessica Nicole Monk, of Crockett, was arrested and charged with second-degree felony aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury.
According to the arrest affidavit, a Crockett PD officer was dispatched out to the lobby of the Houston County Jail to talk to a man that had just walked in and said that he had been cut with a knife. Before he arrived on the scene, dispatch told him that the other person involved in the alleged incident had walked into the lobby as well, and the jail's staff members were afraid that a "confrontation was about to happen."
When the CPD officer got to the jail lobby, he identified Monk and the victim. The officer took the victim outside, and the man told him that Monk had sliced him with a knife, the affidavit stated.
After the victim showed the CPD officer his injury, it was clear he that he had been cut with some sort of weapon down the left side of his body from his armpit to his hip, the affidavit.
Later, the officer spoke to Monk, and she told him that she and the victim had been arguing over the fact that her boyfriend had been arrested a few hours earlier and the victim had been yelling at her, the affidavit stated. Although Monk said she pushed the victim, she denied cutting him with a knife.
According to the affidavit, the Crockett PD officer took the victim back to the house where the incident allegedly occurred to try to find the knife. They searched the home's bedroom and the area outside, but no knife was found, the affidavit stated.
