LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Officers with the Lufkin Police Department arrested a 29-year-old woman Thursday morning after she allegedly got into an argument with the man she was living with and attacked his Ford Fusion with a "metal stick," doing more than $10,000 worth of damage to it.
Joyce Ann Shedd, of Lufkin, is still being held in the Angelina County Jail on a state-jail felony criminal mischief between $2,500 and $30,000 charge. Her bail amount has been set at $7,500.
According to the narrative of the Lufkin Police Department report, an LPD officer was dispatched out to the 2000 block of Keltys Street at about 7:20 a.m. Thursday to check out a disturbance in progress. The caller told the dispatcher that Shedd was outside hitting his car with a "metal stick."
When the LPD officer arrived at the scene, he noticed a blue Ford Fusion in the home's driveway. The officer also noticed that the car's tail lights were busted out. The Ford Fusion also had several dents on its right side, and its front windshield was busted out, the report stated.
The LPD officer went to the home and saw Shedd putting on her boots. When the officer asked what had happened, Shedd explained that she had gotten into an argument with the victim after he kicked her out of his house, the report stated.
Shedd told the LPD officer that after they argued all morning, the man went to his parents' house next door, and she went outside and started hitting the car with a stick.
After she was asked about the nature of her relationship with the victim, Shedd said that they had lived together for two years and that they had broken up for several months, the report stated. Shedd told the LPD officer that she moved back in with the man less than two weeks ago, and now, he wanted her out again.
"Joyce stated she had given [the victim] some money for the down payment on the car in the past," the report stated. "The vehicle was only registered to [the victim]."
Later, the LPD officer spoke to the alleged victim, who gave the officer a similar account of what happened. The man told the officer that he ran away from the house to avoid getting assaulted by Shedd and called the police.
The alleged victim showed the LPD officer two cell phone videos of Shedd hitting his car with the metal stick, the report stated. The man stayed away from Shedd as he called the police.
Shedd was arrested at the scene and taken to the county jail.
When the victim went to an auto shop and got an estimate for the repairs, he was told that the cost of fixing his Ford Fusion would be more than $10,500, the report stated.
