Storm Damage

by Donna McCollum

The afternoon and evening storms that we've been seeing this week have left more damage. This time in Nacogdoches County. A large oak tree fell on a home resulting in substantial damage. Gusty winds hit the harmony community at Hiway 7 West and Farm to Market 2782 around 9pm Tuesday night. The tree fell across an attached car port. Luckily the resident wasn't hurt. His neighbors were without electricity for about 12 hours.

In the city of Nacogdoches localized flooding occurred. Some storm water reached the doors of the police department. Phone lines were out, but a backup system gave dispatchers the ability to answer any emergency calls. By Wednesday morning everything was back to normal.
