LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - The rain could not stop several dozen women from coming out to the latest Habitat for Humanity build to find a stud.
The event was to raise awareness about the Women Build campaign that looks to get women involved in the organization. The group is looking to get 100 women to donate money to the group that would go to their projects. To be involved Women would be asked to donate time and $50 a month to the project.
At the event today, women were able to take pictures with "studs" from the Lufkin Fire Department, Lufkin Police Department and several other community groups. The women were also asked to find a wall stud in the home and write an inspirational message.
"It means everything to the family," Executive Director Terry Cawley said. "They will look at those messages whenever we are building on Saturdays and they go one by one and they see another woman has told them you can do this."
This is the 20th home build and the group is already working on sites for their 21st and 22nd home.
