Nacogdoches students safe after bus tire blowout

NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - Nacogdoches students and their chaperones are safe after their school bus had a tire blowout Friday evening.

According to Dr. Michael O'Guin, Nacogdoches High School Principal, at about 10:15 p.m., a school bus carrying fans and chaperones had a blowout while traveling back to Nacogdoches following the Dragon Basketball playoff game at Madisonville High School. The accident occurred on Hwy 7 about 20 miles outside of  Nacogdoches.

Passengers included NHS students and chaperones.  DPS along with NISD school officials and NISD transportation personnel were on the scene and there were no reported injuries.  

All passengers were loaded onto another bus that was traveling back to Nacogdoches from the game.

Dr. O' Guin said that the safety of their students and staff is their priority. He added that they were thankful for the quick response of all NISD personnel and TX DPS to ensure all passengers arrived safely back in Nacogdoches.
