Livingston man dies in 2-vehicle accident on US 190

POLK COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - One man died, and two people were injured in a two-vehicle rear-end collision that occurred on U.S. Highway 190 in Polk County.

According to a press release from the Texas Department of Public Safety, Polk County DPS troopers responded to a report of a two-vehicle fatality crash on Highway 190 about four miles east of Livingston.

The preliminary crash report shows that Sherman Risner Jr., 84, of Livingston, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet passenger car and he was stopped in the inside lane  of Highway 190 waiting to turn left onto Beech Creek Road when it was struck from behind by a 2008 Chevrolet pickup driven by Alvin Nettles, 88, of Livingston.

Justice of the Peace Jamie Jones pronounced Sherman Risner dead at the scene of the crash at 12:24. Erma Risner, an 82-year-old passenger in the Chevrolet car, was taken to Conroe Regional Hospital for treatment. Nettles was transported to CHI St Luke's Hospital in Livingston by a private vehicle as a precautionary measure.
