NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

The Texas Department of Transportation had a Centennial Celebration on the Nacogdoches square this afternoon.

A historic road truck set the stage for reflecting on how TxDOT has changed in the last 100 years.

A highlight of the ceremony was honoring retired Houston County judge Erin Ford, who earned this year's TxDOT Road Hand Award.

"Our network of roads connect us by county and by city, and in order for us to be effective, we have to be supportive and cooperative and interfacing with TxDOT,” Ford said.

Ford declared five state of emergencies while serving Houston County. He said each time TxDOT was instrumental in recovery.
