NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

The days of making beer in a house kitchen are over for partners of Fredonia Brewery in Nacogdoches. The long-awaited opening of their micro-brewery is Saturday.

Fredonia Brewery is not a bar or a restaurant. Instead, it's a place where once a week you can have a cold one with old and new friends.

Soon the curiosity about Fredonia Brewery will end. Partners Vince Beard and Paul Murray are ready to quench the thirst of beer drinkers with a selection of locally made micro-brews.

"We want our beer on tap at your favorite bar,” Murray said. “We want our beer at your favorite grocery store or your favorite liquor store. That's our goal."

They're striking out on their own, like the Fredonia Rebellion for which the brewery is named.

"Our 15 barrel, 4 vessel brewhouse,” Murray said.

Everything speaks Texas.

“In Texas we kinda like our blondes to have a little bit of sweetness to 'em,” Murray said.

For those thinking otherwise, Murray is speaking of a honey-toned beer.

Each Saturday, Fredonia Brewery will host Pints on the Patio from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

This first weekend close to 400 pre-sale tickets, available through its Facebook page, are close to being sold out.

There will be food trucks, a live band and tours.

The family- and dog-friendly venue is at the corner of Mound and Hospital Streets.
