LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Filing your taxes can be scary for anyone who does not understand the complex tax code, but this year you're not alone and volunteers will help.
This year, volunteers with the AARP have returned to The Kurth Memorial Library to help people with turning in their taxes. The volunteers will be at the library every Tuesday and Thursday until April 18. The service is free, but visitors will be helped on a first-come-first serve basis.
Volunteers are asking for people to bring all of their tax forms to the appointment. The volunteers are seeing a lot of people that are coming in due to the lack of computer knowledge.
"They are just not familiar with our computers," volunteer Sarah Oliver said. "The IRS furnishes us with a software program that we do it on. We have to e-file everything."
