Angelina County's first craft brewery has closed its doors for good.

The Big Thicket Brewery, which was located on West Shepherd Avenue, had been open since October 2014. Jeremy Crew and Corey Crawford opened the brewery after about a year and a half of planning and a lot of paperwork, according to a previous East Texas News story.

"We sincerely appreciate your friendly comments and well wishes," the business posted on the brewery's Facebook page. "And we will always be thankful for all the great people we met and the experiences we had creating Lufkin's first brewery. Thank you for all the good times. It was a great run."

Lufkin businessman Mark Hicks confirmed Friday that he has bought the equipment and furniture from Big Thicket Brewery. He said he plans to re-open the brewery in downtown Lufkin sometime in mid-summer to early fall. Hicks said the new brewery will have a new name, and it will be in a new location.

When Crew and Crawford opened the brewery in 2014, they had about 13 different types of beer on tap.
