Resurfacing Project Shouldn't Take Long

Traffic has been moving slower than usual down Highway 69 North in Lufkin. Improvements are being made to the highway.

The road is being resurfaced. That process should take about a week. If you have to use Highway 69 to get to work, you should leave home a little earlier or find a different route to save yourself some time.

The district-wide seal coat project runs from Loop 287 on Lufkin's west side all the way to Highway 7.

TxDot spokesperson, Kathi White, said, "There is one lane of southbound and one lane of northbound shut down, so motorists just need to be aware of that and be mindful of that as they're going through."

Remember to slow down through the construction zone. Traffic fines double when workers are present.
