Tenaha man dies in 1-vehicle wreck on US 84 near Joaquin

SHELBY COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

One person died in a one-vehicle wreck that occurred on U.S. Highway 84 near Joaquin early Tuesday morning.

According to a press release from the Texas Department of Public Safety, the person who was killed in the wreck was identified as Richard Wayne Everett III, 23, of Tenaha.

The preliminary crash report shows that at about 6:18 a.m. Tuesday, Everett was driving a 2008 Kia Optima west on Highway 84 when he entered a right-hand curve and went off the road to the left. Everett’s Optima collided with a tree, the press release stated.

Justice of the Peace Margie Anderson pronounced Everett dead at the scene of the crash, the press release stated.

The crash is still under investigation.
