Roadrunners hold off Jacksonville to advance in Conference Tournament Opening Day

JACKSONVILLE (Press Release)– Sophomore Corinthian Ramsey came off the bench to knock down a pair of critical three pointers to help lead the Angelina College Roadrunners to a 76-71 win over the Jacksonville College Jaguars in Tuesday’s opening round of the Region XIV conference tournament in Jacksonville.

Ramsey’s three with 6:11 to play tied the game at 59-59; his trey with 38 seconds to play extended AC’s lead to a comfortable six-point margin, allowing the ‘Runners to hold off the hometown Jags.

Ramsey also assisted on big threes from Robert Lewis and Kyndall Powell in the final moments, finishing the game with 11 points, four assists and two steals. Robert Lewis led AC with 14 points, Powell finished with 13 and Jason Towery pitched in a double-double in a reserve role, scoring 10 points and pulling down 11 rebounds.

Ben Nakwaasah led the Jaguars with 31 points; Nate Nihimy added 12.
