Aviation Authorities Investigate Chopper Crash

An East Texas man is dead after a helicopter crash. It happened Wednesday morning in Cherokee County.

Forty-seven year-old James Farmer of Jacksonville was the pilot of the chopper. He was the only person on board.

The helicopter went down just south of Rusk around 8:15 Wednesday morning. Farmer ran an aviation business in Jacksonville.

State troopers say Farmer's helicopter clipped power lines just before it crashed. They don't know if he was flying too low or had a mechanical problem with his aircraft.
