NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Deputy constables with Nacogdoches County's Precinct 4 Constable's office arrested a man and a woman on state-jail felony criminal mischief charges Tuesday in connection to allegations that they did thousands of dollars worth of damage to a rental property in the Etoile area on Feb. 7.
Joseph Andrew Froehlich, 32, of Nacogdoches, and Brandy Evon Grimes, 34, of Etoile, are both still being held in the Nacogdoches County Jail. They were each charged with state-jail felony criminal mischief between $2,500 and $30,000. Froehlich was also charged with Class C misdemeanor driving with license invalid.
No bail amounts have been set for their charges yet.
"It was pretty bad," said Precinct 4 Constable David Stone. "The home owner was pretty upset. Just because you're renting a place doesn't give you the right to destroy it if you're asked to leave. That's someone else's property."
Stone said after Froehlich and Grimes were evicted from the property, they did somewhere between $4,500 and $6,000 worth of damage to the home. Froehlich and Grimes allegedly pulled electrical plugs out of the wall, knocked holes in the wall, destroyed cabinets, and pulled doors off their hinges, Stone said.
Stone said the man and woman damaged the rental property in other ways as well.
