PCA Gets A New Home

An East Texas charter school is making some huge improvements, just in time for the new school year.

Pineywoods Community Academy has plans to relocate from Lufkin Avenue to Old Junior High West on Raguet Street. Faculty and staff expect about 270 students to enroll next fall and there's just not enough room for everyone at the current location.

PCA moves to its new home August 1st. The school will lease the building from a local businessman.

Jennings Naranjo, a PCA board member, said, "The charter's school been in existence for five years, and the last couple of years, we've been having to turn down students because we had limited space. This new building will give us ample space to be able to grow for several years to come."

PCA will also partner with SFA in the fall. Graduate students will teach the kids how to plant a garden and maintain a compost.
