Proud Of East Texas: Peppy Blount

Father, Grandfather, Attorney, Telethon Host, War Hero, Football Star and Author, are only a few of the titles used to describe Longview's R.E. Peppy Blount. Blount has always been bigger than life, not just because of his six foot five height but, because he's lived the kind of life that legends are made of.

Blount's book, "Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Play Football" tells of his football days. His book "We Band Of Brothers" tells of his war experiences and "A Time For All Reasons" covers other aspects of his life. Blount's fourth book "All Things Considered, It's Been A Great Life", is primarily about the peoople he's met along the way.

Blount's 33 years as host of the MDA Telethon, his half century as an attorney, and his near fatal auto accident, still leave him much towrite about.

But as Peppy Blount says in his book, "All Things Considered, It's Been A Great Life."
