JASPER COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - A 22-year-old Beaumont man died in a two-vehicle wreck involving a passenger car and a pickup that occurred near the intersection of FM 2799 and FM 1747 in Jasper County Thursday night.
Two people were injured in the wreck as well.
According to a press release from the Texas Department of Public Safety, DPS troopers responded to a report of a two-vehicle wreck at about 7:45 p.m. Thursday.
Justice of the Peace Ronny Billingsley pronounced Devontray Jalon Hadnot, 22, of Beaumont, dead at the scene of the crash Thursday night, the press release stated.
The preliminary crash investigation indicates that Hadnot was driving a 1999 Pontiac passenger car east on FM 1747 and Lawrence Spikes, 54, of Jasper, was driving a 2006 Dodge pickup west on FM 2799, the press release stated.
Hadnot failed to yield the right of way and pulled out in front of the Dodge pickup, the press release stated. The truck struck the Pontiac on the driver's side door.
The passenger in the Pontiac, Tiara Allen. 22, of Beaumont, was transported by medical helicopter to St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment of serious injuries, the press release stated. There are not updates on her condition at this time.
Spikes was taken by ambulance to Jasper Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
