HUDSON, TX (KTRE) - After 44 years in the education field, Hudson Superintendent Mary Ann Whiteker has announced her retirement.
Whiteker said her last day will be June 30.
"I've been superintendent here for 23 years, and it's one of the best school districts anywhere," Whiteker said. "We've been able to do some tremendous things with a great community that has given me great school boards. I've had a phenomenal staff and great kids."
Whiteker says she does not have immediate plans after retirement, but plans to stay in East Texas.
Whiteker's husband works out of his own law firm in Lufkin.
