Investigators believe Rivercrest death a homicide

ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - A preliminary report from the autopsy performed on a 73-year-old man found dead outside of his home in Rivercrest states that his cause of death is "unknown, pending toxicology, investigation report, and medical records review."

Pct. 2 Justice of the Peace Donnie Puckett said he got the preliminary autopsy report back on Franklin Donald Cox Monday.

According to a press release, Angelina County Sheriff's Office deputies and detectives responded to the 500 block of Joe Bynum Road in Rivercrest Friday morning in connection to a body that had been found. The press release stated that the body of Franklin Donald Cox was found outside his home.

On Monday, Lt. Brett Maisel released a statement saying it appears Cox's death was a homicide and they are continuing to follow leads and conduct interviews.
