It all started around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. A robber took a couple hundred dollars from CJ's Country Store in Etoile. The search for the robber included the crash of a law enforcement vehicle.
At around 7:30 p.m., a passerby on FM 226 in Woden spotted the suspect. Officers then immediately ran into the woods in search of him.
Around 40 officers from numerous law enforcement agencies have been staking out the area. They are looking for a suspected robber, Zavalla native Jeremy Spencer.
Nacogdoches County Sheriff Thomas Kerss said, "All the descriptors we have at this time is that he's a white male, about 6'3", and 180 lbs."
The day included a traffic accident. It happened as two Texas state troopers headed to their destination to take part in the search.
A witness says they were traveling behind here and passed her, tried to miss an oncoming car, and lost control and hit a tree.
Sgt. James Brazil, with the Dept. of Public Safety, said the two were transported to area hospitals, but they will be fine.
When they crashed, Troopers James Hicks and John Henley were heading to FM 226 in Woden, where a blockade was set up. Spencer's wife was among those waiting.
Officers surrounded the area, their guns ready to fire, but lack of daylight would soon play a factor.
