NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - The Nacogdoches Shriner Club has a unique partnership with Appleby Sand Mercantile Cafe.
For three years, Angela Bradford, the café's owner, has cooked up a home style meal for customers and given all the proceeds to the Shriner Club.
The benefit lunch is this coming Sunday. Bradford says it's a way to pay forward a blessing the Shriners provided for her granddaughter.
"We do this every year in honor of my granddaughter Katelyn Rose Grumble," Bradford said." "She was a Shriner's patient and today she can run and jump and play because of Shriner's Hospital. They did a lot of great things for her."
The Nacogdoches Shriner Club provided transportation, an expense to their club. You can help them help other youngsters by attending the Sunday lunch. It's from 11 a.m. to when the food is gone. Eat in or take out for $12 a person. Fried catfish, baked and fried chicken, and many more buffet items are on the menu. The Mercantile is located at 6530 Appleby Sand Road.
