LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Jake is a two-year-old yellow Labrador retriever that is ready to be the perfect pet for the right family.
Jake has become a favorite of the shelter employees at the Winnie Berry Humane Society.
"Jake's 2 years old, and he is the typical yellow Lab," Shelter Director Mike Stephens said. "[He is a] friendly guy; well-mannered. Jake is well-behaved. Walks well on a leash. Loves to play fetch. Being a big dog, he is going to need space, so you might not want him in a house full of glassware."
Jake is obedient but he is also playful so Stephens said he will need plenty of attention.
"Even though he is an adult he is going to require some exercise, so he is going to be looking for a place where he can get out, maybe do a little work and have a good time playing," Stephens said.
Stephens believes that Jake has had some training in the past, and he may be useful with hunting. He did add that a family with older kids would be better.
Anyone interested in Jake can stop by the Winnie Berry Humane Society at 1102 N John Redditt Dr, in Lufkin. They are open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m Monday through Saturday.
